Recommended for ages 6 - 12. Abstract art is one of the top picks for young artists to explore their creativity and freedom of expression without the use of objects.
Considered America’s First Art Movement, the class will learn how pioneering abstract artists Mark Rothko and Jackson Pollock manipulated color, composition and texture in their artwork to achieve an emotional response from the viewer. One lesson will be listening to different kinds of music being played in class and paint an emotional response that goes with it. This is primarily a painting class but the class will experiment in collage and sculpture. A $10 material fee is added to the cost of the class for supplies.
