In this course you will be introduced to the multi-step process of reduction linocuts! You will begin by creating a register block for your linocut and learn to layer colors to create a beautiful print. Registration and carving techniques will be taught, leaving you confident in your skills to make multi-color prints. A supply list will be sent. This is a great process that welcomes print-makers of all levels and is easy to do at home!

Geared for levels Intermediate to Advanced. Watercolor has the reputation for being difficult, but we are going to make it easier and maybe even fun. Take what you already know about putting paint on the paper and learn how to visualize and paint what you like. You will receive instruction on the simplification of subjects, value studies, and composition. We will learn to look at artists for inspiration, technique, and visualization of successful pictures including how to find a subject/picture. Your drawing skills will be enhanced as we go. Why do some paintings just look right? What makes a good painting?

Drawing and Painting for Beginners and Experienced. Something for everybody! You will learn many techniques and methods for producing watercolor paintings of your own. Learn the basics of pictorial composition, perspective and many other aspects of ART! You will be more informed about brushes, paint and paper types and what is best for you. Learn to paint tree, skies, people, animals and much more. No previous experienced is required. By the end of this course you will be able to finish a watercolor painting with confidence!

Color is powerful! Students will improve and inform their skills as painters by learning the importance of mastering color mixing formulas and by making effective color choices. They will develop deeper sensitivity to color through explorations of hue, value, intensity, proportion, and placement in their compositions. There will be investigations into the psychological effects of color. Presentations will include master painting examples that show how color can move us emotionally. * No class 7/17
Learn how to make various jewelry such as a necklace, bracelet, pin, etc. using leather and other natural materials - gemstones, natural fabrics, and findings from nature. A material fee of $30 paid to the instructor.

Teaching Artist: Richard Romero
This is an introductory studio course in drawing with an emphasis on representation from direct observation. Drawing is fundamentally about learning to see and transporting that vision onto paper through various mark-making techniques. The class will consist of in-class projects along with homework assignments that will supplement the in-class work. We will learn a variety of drawing techniques and explore the variety of drawing materials available. Besides drawing projects, the class time will also include critiques and short lectures.

Now running this summer "Let's continue drawing the live figure." Join us this August for three classes Thursdays from 1 to 3:30 pm, August 8, 15, 22. Each class will have a different model dressed in interesting clothing/ costumes. We will start with short poses consecutively going into longer poses. Handouts and instruction if needed. Demos available for each individual student upon requests. A modeling fee has been added to the class fee.
