It was a grand opening celebration of the next generation of artists as friends and family of the participating artists, community art supporters and school officials came together on Friday, January 16 at AOY Art Center! We were also honored to have Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick to present to the winners certificates and flags flown over the Capitol. There was great applause and excitement when he announced that he read the winning names into the Congressional Record, a part of US history now.

Below you will find the winners in each category and images of their outstanding art!

There were over 150 outstanding artists represented in this exhibition. We congratulate all of them as they are "the best of the best!"

While the exhibition was planned to be on view for just two weekends, we were snowed out for the 17-18. As Sunday January 25 is also projected to have snow, we are adding new gallery hours for Friday. We invite you to see it in person this weekend:

New Hours: Friday January 23, 12-5 PM

January 24–25 | Saturdays & Sundays, 12–5 PM

This juried exhibition also includes a robust awards program recognizing excellence in 2D, 3D, and Photography and Computer Graphics by two distinguished judges: Nancy Allen and Lauren Rosenblum. AOY Art Center awarded over $3,000 to the talented winners. There were also special memorial awards honoring the Fran & Chris Leyenberger family and the Marc Schimsky family, both of whom were passionate supporters of student art education.

Our thanks to the community who has supported the Emerging Artists awards fundraisers this past year: Repurposing Donated Art Supplies Yard Sale, The Bake Sale at the Fine Crafts Show and/or through the purchase of Emerging Artist t-shirts and aprons.

Our thanks too to the reception sponsors: Wegman's of Yardley, McCaffrey's Supermarket, Blue Monkey Catering and Countryside Framing of Newtown.

Behind the scenes, the Emerging Artists program has grown into a vibrant, engaged community thanks to the leadership of Emerging Artists Committee Chairs Anne Gannon and Renee Egan, and the energy and expertise of new committee members from the arts and business community, Elaine Morales, Andie Olson and Rich Fekete. We thank them for all their dedication and volunteer hours coordinating this show.

We hope you will join us to support these young artists, celebrate their achievements, and see firsthand the future of Bucks County’s creative community.

With gratitude,

Bette Sovinee, Executive Director

About the Jurors

Nancy Allen, the founding spark behind Artists of Yardley, first imagined the group during a train ride to Philadelphia.  A versatile artist working in both cold and warm glass, Nancy has created fine jewelry since college and through her years teaching elementary art. She has explored many mediums throughout her career and continues to create today, working in clay, drawing and experimenting across diverse materials.  She lives in Yardley.

Lauren Rosenblum is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the intersection of nature and human identity through expressive portraits and still life. She began her classical training at the Art Students League and the Brooklyn Museum of Art. Her work has appeared in Fine Art Connoisseur, American Art Collector, Artist Talk Magazine, and Artists Network.  Lauren is represented by Gallery Piquel (New Hope, PA & Lambertville, NJ). She lives and works in New Jersey.

View the show in-person Saturdays and Sundays from 12-5 PM Jan 17-25.

"You learn a lot about a community by how much it embraces, elevates and provides access to the arts. AOY Art Center, a nonprofit artistic hub on Mirror Lake Road, provides countless opportunities for residents to embrace their artistic side as a vehicle for growth, creativity, and profound joy. Through adult classes, youth programs, and public events, AOY Art Center uses the arts to not only inspire community members but also connect them to one another."
