Kinusaiga is a Japanese fabric art form that originated as a way to repurpose beautiful silk scraps from kimonos. The art reflects the Japanese concept of mottainai—the belief that valuable materials should be appreciated and not wasted.
Today, Kinusaiga is practiced around the world using a wide variety of fabrics and modern materials, while continuing to celebrate creativity, craftsmanship, and the beauty of textiles.
In this beginner-friendly workshop, participants will create a beautiful 8x12" Kinusaiga artwork to take home. Choose from a provided design or bring your own simple line-art (with areas larger than 1/4") on 8.5x11" paper. Participants are also welcome to bring their own fabric scraps to incorporate into their project.

Materials fee: $25 due to the instructor at the start of the workshop.
For ages 18+.

This workshop is also offered Sunday, October 4, 9 am - 12 pm.

Here is a link for details regarding AOY Terms & Conditions. Online payment at time of registration is preferred. Please note, if you choose to use the "payment by check" option, that payment option expires two weeks prior to the start of the workshop. Checks must be received two weeks prior to the start date for completion of registration in order to be added to the class roster. Registrations will be cancelled if payments are not received prior to these deadlines.
