Teaching Artist: Leigh Ferello

In this hands-on course, students explore the creative possibilities of paper and fiber as both surface and structure. Through guided experimentation and open-ended play, participants will create richly layered faux papers, expressive ocean-inspired collages, ornaments/garland decor, and build sculptural fiber forms.

Along the way, students will experiment with texture, color, layering, and simple construction techniques while developing confidence working with nontraditional materials (including spices). No prior experience required—just curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to experiment.

If you’ve attended Leigh's Grit & Grace: A Faux Paper Journey workshop, this class series offers extended time to create papers and apply those techniques across a wider range of projects.

$20 materials fee due to the instructor. For ages 18+.

Here is a link for details regarding AOY Terms & Conditions. Online payment at time of registration is preferred. Please note, if you choose to use the "payment by check" option, that checks are accepted only during the first 4 weeks of registration and the check payment option expires two weeks prior to the start of each class. Checks must be received two weeks prior to the start date for completion of registration in order to be added to the class roster. Registrations will be cancelled if payments are not received prior to these deadlines.

"You learn a lot about a community by how much it embraces, elevates and provides access to the arts. AOY Art Center, a nonprofit artistic hub on Mirror Lake Road, provides countless opportunities for residents to embrace their artistic side as a vehicle for growth, creativity, and profound joy. Through adult classes, youth programs, and public events, AOY Art Center uses the arts to not only inspire community members but also connect them to one another."
