Teaching Artist: Lauren Rosenblum

This course is designed to teach students how to see and understand values and how to paint light on form, using paint.
The students can choose their medium oil or acrylic. If you have never painted in oil paint, I will show you how to be comfortable with oils and even learn to love the medium. I use odorless Gamsol and clean up is easier then you think. The benefits of oil paint are plentiful. You will have longer open time to work on your painting... the paint will stay wet for a longer time, so you can really make decisions and changes to your work in process. As some students prefer water based paint, you are welcome to use acrylic paint, the techniques you will learn can be rendered in either medium.
The instructor uses a limited color palette, so the supply list is shorter and the benefit of learning to mix the colors is much greater !
This course is perfect for adults who want to improve their painting skills.
A materials list will be provided by the instructor. Students will be asked to bring a simple still life or an image (the best way to work is from an iPad). If you bring a still life, keep it simple eg a fake piece of fruit, we can photograph it and send it to your phone or iPad for referencing.

Please note, if you choose to use the "payment by check" option, that checks are accepted only during the first 4 weeks of registration and the check payment option expires two weeks prior to the start of each class. Checks must be received two weeks prior to the start date for completion of registration in order to be added to the class roster. Registrations will be cancelled if payments are not received prior to these deadlines.
