Each day the children will listen to a story and create a piece of art based on a lovable character and their adventures from the story. Have fun figuring out why the caterpillar is always so hungry or why the baby bird thinks his mother maybe a cow. If you love to read, draw, listen to stories and want to create some of your own this camp is perfect. The human face and figure is a fascinating study but can seem intimidating at first. In this workshop, we help demystify this process with preliminary drawing exercises. Artists will also enjoy looking at dynamic poses, explore interesting compositions, and examining different angles: profile view, 3/4 views, and non-traditional angles. This is not your ordinary art camp! Off the Wall Art invites kids ages 9–13 to discover what happens when creativity goes sideways—literally. From drawing with both hands at once (bilateral drawing) and blind contour drawing (without even looking), to spinning canvases into motion-blur and pendulum painting, campers will dive into the wild world of art-making that gets a little "sciency" at times. We will explore how agents interact with art mediums such as watercolor, and oil pastel, as well as paints that puff and fizz. Printmaking is a fun and exciting way of making art where each design can have dozens of "copies"! We will explore Block Printing with rubber surfaces that need to be cut into, Engraving where the image is scratched into the surface of the "plate" to make line work, Silk Screen, where a stencil type design blocks ink from going through fabric. We will even learn to create a multi-colored design using block printing. Expand your artistic vocabulary with fun new methods and materials! Some of our prints will be single color on white and some will be multicolored, some even on colored or patterned papers to create interesting patterns and designs. For the LOVE of Art is a creative, hands-on art camp that explores famous artists and the many ways they express joy, emotion, and imagination through their work. Over five days, students experiment with painting, printmaking, collage, and sculpture as they create art inspired by icons like Jim Dine, Keith Haring, Robert Indiana, and Frida Kahlo. Our exciting sculpture Workshop will include both relief sculptures and sculpture in the round! Come learn to carve into the surface of plaster and wood to create relief images. Paint your carvings to make them really pop! Sculptures in the round will include "miniatures" of various objects or animals modeled out of acrylic clay such as Sculpey. Acrylic clays are brightly colored and mixable and can be used to make smooth as well as textured designs. A large piece we will create will involve a wire armature and Paris craft strips to model a 3-D Animal, Human, or Object! Welcome to Spa Glow — a creative, relaxing retreat designed for young makers who love pampering, self-care, and hands-on art! Come to AOY for an Adventure in Fabric Decorating and Embellishing! Learn to create a hot wax and cold dye BATIK with a mix of bright colors. Create a design using Fabric markers and paints. We will learn to use embroidery floss to create a pattern, design or picture that can decorate existing clothing or cloth bags.
We will learn to weave a pouch capable of holding treasures using a cardboard loom with multicolored yarn and further decorate them with pom poms or tassels!
It is helpful if campers have basic experience with simple sewing, especially knot tying, but it's not required. Our week will end with everyone taking home their new and exciting 3D textile creations to use as a base for further individual endeavors! All material fees are included.

Create a series of vibrant masterpieces inspired by the groundbreaking work of famous female artists from around the world! In this empowering, creativity-filled camp, young artists will explore a variety of styles, materials, and techniques while learning about the women who helped shape the art world.

Students will create a bold Frida Kahlo–inspired self-portrait, exploring expressive color and symbolic storytelling; O’Keeffe-style cow skull oil pastel, focusing on dramatic shading and larger-than-life composition. Inspired by Alma Thomas, campers will create a joyful abstract paper collage filled with rhythmic color patterns.

We will also explore Yayoi Kusama's polka-dot art, a Faith Ringgold fabric collage, learning how texture and pattern can help tell a powerful narrative, a luminous faux stained-glass piece inspired by Evie Hone, using color, light, and line to create a glowing work of art, and more.

By the end of camp, students will have a beautiful collection of artworks that celebrate creativity, individuality, and the inspiring legacy of women in art. All material fees are included.

Step into the whimsical world of watercolor! In Watercolor Magic, artists will create their own personalized watercolor sketchbook and paint a gallery of mini masterpieces inspired by nature—flowers, animals, landscapes, and more.
Artists will experiment with liquid watercolor, watercolor pencils, and pens as they learn blending, layering, and special effects like salt texture, ink outlines, resist techniques, gradients, and splatter magic. They will even make their own natural watercolors and build confidence in sketching from observation and imagination. Bring a towel for sitting outside if the weather is nice!

By the end of the week, each artist will have a beautiful sketchbook, a mini-painting collection, and a newfound love for watercolor art!

Get your Podge on and dive into the exciting, hands-on world of Mod Podge and upcycled art! In this imaginative camp, artists will explore how everyday objects and simple materials can be transformed into something completely new, colorful, and uniquely their own. Through playful experimentation and guided creativity, campers will learn how to seal, layer, collage, and embellish using Mod Podge as their magic-making medium. Projects will showcase a wide variety of techniques and textures. Artists will craft confetti bowls from repurposed materials, create vibrant mixed-media ocean paintings full of depth and movement, and design luminous faux stained-glass art that glows with color. They’ll roll their own paper beads, turning recycled papers into wearable or decorative treasures, and assemble textile journals using fabric, collage, and personal flair.

As time allows, we’ll continue exploring additional Mod Podge–friendly projects, encouraging each artist to experiment, discover, and express their creativity in new ways. Our journey continues! This is the second installment of our popular “Art Goes to Japan” camp—featuring all new projects for returning campers and first-timers alike. Young artists will explore the beauty, symbolism, and traditions of Japanese culture through a variety of creative, hands-on activities. Campers will design and decorate their own Kokeshi dolls, create a charming kawaii-style drawing, experiment with gyotaku fish printing using fish replicas only—no real shellfish used, and sculpt a daruma statue to inspire personal goal-setting. As time allows, we’ll dive into additional Japanese-inspired art projects to spark imagination and cultural curiosity.

This camp also includes sashiko basic stitching, and campers will be working with sewing needles. Basic safety awareness around sewing materials is recommended, and the ability to tie a double knot. Learn how to add shape, dimension, and visual interest to your artwork in this texture-focused creative exploration! Throughout the session, campers will experiment with a wide range of techniques designed to elevate flat surfaces into richly layered works of art.

Participants will create faux handmade textured papers using everyday household items**, discovering how simple tools can produce striking effects. We’ll explore paper manipulation methods—folding, crumpling, embossing, tearing, and sculpting—to see how paper itself can become a dynamic medium. Campers will also mix their own texture paste, learning how to customize thickness and consistency to achieve unique raised designs. From there, campers will dive into gelli plate printmaking, experimenting with stencils, found objects, and layering to produce bold, one-of-a-kind prints. Additional mixed-media techniques will be introduced as time allows, encouraging playful discovery and creative problem-solving.
